Hurricane Flooding -- Water Does The Most Damage
When it comes to hurricane flooding you can never be too careful, especially when you live in certain areas like the Atlantic and the Gulf Coast. Hurricane flooding causes most of the damage; more damage than the actual wind. But for some reason, most insurance companies don't cover flood damage. What does this mean for residents in these communities? It means much more preparation when it comes to hurricane flooding. Make sure before a hurricane hits you follow proper hurricane safety and hurricane flooding tips. If need be, you want to know when you should be evacuating floods.
Hurricane Flooding
In 2005, the hurricane season really picked up, and between Hurricanes Katrina and Rita caused billions of dollars in damage. Entire cities were wiped out by flooding, and unfortunately, almost all of the damage will not be covered by insurance. Most homeowners policies don't cover this kind of damage. Why? Because the damage, they say, is not caused by the actual hurricane, but by the flooding, which is connected with -- indirectly -- with the hurricane. So now, all these people who lost their homes have to find some way to replace all of their belongings, without the help of insurance.
If you're ever in a hurricane, make sure you are prepared for everything, including hurricane flooding. You can't stop the elements from hitting your town or even you house, but you can be prepared. It's better to be prepared beforehand than wondering aimlessly afterward. Hopefully the elements will be kind and not affect you so much, but if they do, we want you safe.
"We were one of the lucky ones to take the warnings seriously and packed everything away before the hurricane. Although we lost our house, we save most of our possessions. Life is too important to risk." -- Janet: Tampa, Florida
