The garage is often overlooked in home safety checks. However it is usually the most potentially dangerous and hazardous room in the house. We throw all manner of things in the garage including flammable materials and liquids. As the majority of residential fires in the US are preventable, it is crucial that we carry out garage safety checks to make our homes safe.
If you have children, there can be all kinds of dangerous, poisonous and sharp objects lying around the garage. Thus it is important to follow some garage safety tips, to make your garage is safe and secure.

- Keep all machinery safely stored, and out of reach from little hands. Make sure that you don't leave any machinery plugged in

- Make sure then any gas containers are sealed properly and stored correctly
- Keep a fire extinguisher handy
- Keep the garage door to the house locked, you don't want you children to have free access to the garage and be able to wonder out of the garage alone
